Public Media Management (PMM) is a hybrid cloud-based master control solution developed by public media professionals for public media stations. Created through a groundbreaking collaboration between Sony and WGBH, PMM was designed to preserve what makes public media unique—local identity, community trust, and mission-driven service—while solving the growing challenge of technical complexity and operational costs.
In 2024, Media Management LLC acquired PMM to expand its reach and strengthen its commitment to the public media system. Today, PMM continues to serve a broad range of stations—from community licensees to statewide networks—with a solution that balances local control, cost efficiency, and uninterrupted reliability. Marc hand
CEO
Marc Hand is the CEO of Media Management Company LLC, the ownership group of Public Media Management (PMM), a cloud-based content distribution and master control solution for public television stations. He is also the CEO and founder of PMVG, a consortium of thirty-two leading public media entities that operate over 140 stations and reach more than 250 million people.
Marc co-founded and serves as the Board Chair of the National Trust for Local News – the largest nonprofit owner of local newspapers in the United States.
Previously, Marc was the co-founder and CEO of Public Media Company (PMC) alongside co-founder Susan Harmon. With over 30 years of media experience, he has held roles as the Managing Partner and co-owner of a group of commercial stations in Colorado, and associate positions with two national media brokerage and investment banking firms.
Devon Ellis
Director of Operations
Devon Ellis currently serves as the Director of Operations at Media Management LLC, Devon oversees team leadership, operations management, and strategic initiatives.
Devon is a seasoned operations and broadcast technology professional with over 9 years of experience in the public media industry.
Devon has been a part of PMM since its initial launch in 2015. Prior to his current role, Devon held various positions as part of GBH in Boston, Massachusetts, including Media Technician and Senior Digital Distribution Support Lead. In these roles, Devon honed his skills in product management, scalability, and customer service, serving as an integral part of PMMs technical direction and seeing the successful onboarding of over 20 new stations.
